DAILY PATRIOT EXCLUSIVE
This morning I contacted the office of Congressman Alan Grayson. We could discuss his speech to the House. We could discuss the attempts to make him say sorry coming from both sides of the political isle. We could even discuss his motives - many say have nothing to do with health care.
But the thing I wanted to discuss was his use of the word "HOLOCAUST". I'm not interested in dictionary definitions, just in what it means to millions of people all across the planet.
So when I contacted his office this morning I had but one question. Does the Congressman wish to withdraw that one word?
Well it took a few hours but I just received the reply. In fact it was a reply sent to the Anti Defamation League which apparently had asked a similar question - and here it is.
"I just wanted to re-iterate my thoughts regarding people’s concerns over my recent statement on the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. I am Jewish and have relatives who died in the Holocaust. In no way did I mean to minimize the Holocaust. I regret the choice of words, and I will not repeat it. I am a staunch supporter of Israel and on numerous occasions, I have said that Iran must be restrained to avoid another Holocaust. I personally support the Anti-Defamation League and its work."
Personally I am pleased he regrets using the word. Personally I am pleased he plans on not repeating it. Personally I am disgusted that he couldn't bring himself to utter the word "sorry". There is no shame in apologising Congressman. It takes a real man or woman to step up and say "I made a mistake". The fact that you didn't when given the chance speaks volumes to me - one of your constituents I might add - and I'm sure it speaks volumes to many others who will get the chance to vote for or against you next year.
SHAME!
