Government gets involved with babysitting!

I said a few days ago that you can't make this stuff up. And yet each and every day I am left wondering exactly what to talk about. There's just so much out there that to pick one almost seems like a disservice.

But today it was a very simple task. You see the Government (this time in the form of the State Government represented by Michigan Department of Human Services), has decided that in order for you to drop off your kids at a neighbor's house for an hour - the neighbor needs to be running a registered child care facility.

Here's the background. Every day before school, Lisa Snyder helped out three of her fellow mom's by watching the kids prior to them getting on the school bus. In other words, it was a morning play date!

But, not long after the school year started, Lisa Snyder received a letter. In it, she was warned by the Michigan Department of Human Services that if she continued to be a good neighbor, she'd be violating a law aimed at the operators of unlicensed day care centers!

There are no other issues in Michigan that require the attention of the State. Everything is just peachy!! And Snyder was in fact just returning a favor - the other mom's often watching each other's kids in the evenings and at weekends. By the way - Snyder's home is a designated school bus stop in a rural community six miles from school!

But all is not lost! Common sense seems to be making an appearance with agency Director Ismael Ahmed saying late yesterday that good neighbors should be allowed to help each other ensure their children are safe. Gov. Jennifer Granholm instructed Ahmed to work with the state Legislature to change the law, he said.

Not sure why it takes an instruction from the Governor, but there you go!

How many times do we have to go here? Last week we had the Federal Government getting involved in garage sales!!!! What's next?? Lemonade stands? Oh no - wait a minute. That's already happened.

Tax the rich! - (at your own risk)

I think we all know that no poor person ever gave you a job. And we all equally know that every time tax rates for the rich are hiked, tax yields actually go down.

I feel I'm almost wasting my time writing this today because these are indisputable facts. So indisputable that New York decided to try and tax the rich anyway. So how's that working out for the good folks of that fine State? Great? Errr - not so much....

Right now half of around $1 Billion expected from New York's top 100 earners is "missing" from tax coffers. Could it be the economy? Sure it could, but there is significant evidence that many have simply packed up and left the State - taking their tax dollars with them. And this is potentially good for Florida as a lot of the "leavers" are heading right here.

Even the "we check and check again" New York Times is reporting the shortfall. "State officials say they don't know how much of the missing revenue is because any wealthy New Yorkers simply left. But at least two high-profile defectors have sounded off on the tax changes: Buffalo Sabres owner Tom Golisano, the billionaire who ran for governor three times and who was paying $13,000 a day in New York income taxes, and radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh. Golisano changed his official address to Florida, and Limbaugh, who also has a Florida home, announced earlier this year that he was relinquishing his home in Manhattan."

And considering we were talking about jobs earlier, it is worth noting that Golisano had created 5,000 jobs from his Rochester, NY payroll processing company. And of course he has been accused of bailing. "'If anything, New York state has bailed out on us,'' he said according to the NYT.

Finally Donald Trump earlier this year, told Fox News that many of his friends were thinking about leaving.

How many times does this need to be proved before the Libs finally get it? Back in the 80s President Reagan here and Prime Minister Thatcher in the UK were in office at the same time. Both dramatically reduced taxes on the rich and indeed on corporations. The result? Tax yields increased dramatically and both countries started a period of economic boom. You don't have to be an economist to figure this out (and I'm not!).

It's simple common sense!

Send Pink Slips to Congress!

Click to see a larger version.

As I write this at 11.30pm on Monday 28 September, 2009, some 850,000 pink slips have been sent to members of Congress individually addressed, personalized with senders name and address and delivered to all members of Congress by Fed Ex. The grassroots campaign was announced last Friday by World Net Daily and organisers believe the target of five million slips will be exceeded.

The idea was conceived by Janet Porter of Faith2Action and a WND weekly columnist. "We set a goal of 5 million pink slips to members of Congress," she said. "We might even surpass that goal."

Of course with 2010 approaching, members of the House in particular are looking towards the election - as usual the top priority! This innovative campaign will hopefully have the effect of reminding exactly who they work for!

If you want to be a part of it, just follow the links provided. It is actually a cheap way of sending a very powerful message due to the economies of scale - and Fed Ex WILL deliver.

More from Janet Porter: "There is a revolution brewing across this country," she said. "People are angry about losing their country and they are ready for action. This campaign is just the latest evidence."

Send your pink slips to Congress now

Buy insurance or go to jail - Obamacare official!

Yes you read that right. Under Obamacare you are forced to buy it. If you don't you can be fined. Now we know that if you don't pay the fine, jail awaits you!

Truly, you can't make this stuff up. It comes down to this. Americans who fail to pay the penalty for not buying insurance would face legal action from the Internal Revenue Service, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation.

Senator John Ensign (R-Nev - pictured left) wanted to know what that meant and so he asked a question of the committee's Chief of Staff - Thomas Barthold and was shocked when he received the answer in a hand written reply. The answer is simple. Pay up the fine or face prosecution from the IRS. This can be a fine of up to $25,000 and a year in jail.

You can see a copy of the actual note by CLICKING HERE

As you can see, he signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

Apart from being shocking, this answer blows up the President's continuing claims that the individual mandate penalty, which could go as high as $1,900, is not a tax increase.

The Senator pushed the line of questioning, he later explained, because neither he nor Americans that he had spoken to, believed there was a provision in the Constitution that allowed the Federal Government to mandate that you and I buy health insurance!

"We could be subjecting those very people who conscientiously, because they believe in the U.S. Constitution, we could be subjecting them to fines or the interpretation of a judge, all the way up to imprisonment," Ensign said. "That seems to me to be a problem."

It seems like a problem to me too John, but the problem does not end there. It would seem that the Senator's colleagues don't agree - refusing to sign on to an amendment to dump the mandate.

Not surprisingly, all the Democrats voted in favor of keeping the mandate and perhaps even less shocking is that Republican Olympia Snowe (Maine) also jumped on board. Someone needs to explain to these people that we have a little document that I like to call "THE CONSTITUTION" and that if they don't want to abide by it, then get the heck out of OUR CAPITOL! In case they haven't read it recently, here is a link to the entire thing!

Business bad - Acorn good! - Maddow!

You know if it weren't so sad, it would be funny. Let's look at Acorn just briefly because most of you already know what it is.

1. Charged with voter fraud numerous times

2. Fired eight members of its own Board for daring to ask to see the books after an alleged million Dollar fraud was allegedly swept under the carpet.

3. Caught at least four times encouraging the setting up of a brothel in full knowledge that if successful then a dozen or so illegal immigrant under age hookers would be imprisoned there.

4. Despite receiving tax payer money, caught multiple times on film campaigning for one candidate.

There's plenty more too. But that's not the problem apparently. Nope, the problem, according to Rachel Maddow of the State Run MSNBC, is in fact business which wishes to cast Acorn in a bad light.

The video below is scary at best. In it Maddow lists the things that Acorn does. Just listen to that list!!! It is all the fault of the right wing crusade! "It was the sixth most covered story in the country last week," she says - forgetting to mention that it was going to receive some $8 Billion of our money. My question is why wasn't it the MOST covered story? And if it wasn't for Fox, I do wonder how low down the list it would be.

She even says that "they do things like helping low income families file their taxes". Has she forgotten that on tape we have an Acorn tax adviser looking for a code that can be used for prostitution and even suggesting that the couple break the law? Does she mention that with the explosive video the most important thing on Acorn's agenda is how to sue a couple of kids? Does she mention that right now there's a whole bunch of people out searching the web for compromising pictures of the 20-year-old would be journalist who played the "hooker" in the undercover investigation?

You already know the answers to those questions!

This will blow your flip flops off!

I have no words. This is an extremely rare thing for me, but genuinely I have no words! Below you will find a You Tube video showing Elementary School kids singing the praises of our President.

Who is this teacher? Has she been fired yet? if not, why not? What are the parents saying? Why are there no questions in Congress? Where is the New York Times (this happened in New Jersey)?

I have spoken before on the air about the cult of personality that someone somewhere is trying to cultivate in our schools with regards to our President. We had an on air debate about it when the President addressed the nation's school kids and the lesson plans that followed.

The song even uses parts of the spiritual "Jesus Loves the Little Children," replacing Jesus's name with the Presidents: "He said red, yellow, black or white/All are equal in his sight. Barack Hussein Obama."

There are also words that seem to support the President's Fair Pay Bill which was one of the first he signed in January. "He said we must be clear today/Equal work means equal pay."

As the title said - this should blow your flip flops off. WRITE, CALL for God's sake let them know that we know!

STAND UP AMERICA!

Safe schools? I don't think so!

Well I feel much better now that we have a Safe Schools Czar! His actual title is the President's Director of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools! I wonder how large his business card is?
Anyway, the thing is that once again the vetting process is obviously non existent in the Obama White House. The alternative view is that the President knows about this man's background and that can't possibly be true! Can it?
You see Kevin Jennings (pictured here as a link from FoxNews.com) has advocated promoting homosexuality in schools, written about his past drug abuse, expressed his contempt for religion and detailed an incident in which he did not report an underage student who told him he was having sex with older men.
Makes you feel all warm, snuggly and safe doesn't it?
Oh and PLEASE don't suggest that I am homophobic - if you knew me then you'd know how truly ridiculous that position would be. I just don't think we should be promoting any sexuality in our schools; I don't think we need anyone in school who has contempt for religion and I certainly don't think we need an ex-teacher who couldn't bring himself to helping an underage student get out of the grips of older men who he was illegally having sex with.
There is no doubt that Jennings has done much to make schools safer for homosexual kids and frankly I have no problem with that - I just don't think it qualifies him for this job.
Just two years ago he made multiple references to his personal drug abuse in his autobiography, "Mama's Boy, Preacher's Son: A Memoir", but made no comment on his regrets for those actions.
"I got stoned more often and went out to the beach at Bellows, overlooking Honolulu Harbor and the lights of the city, to drink with my buddies on Friday and Saturday nights, spending hours watching the planes take off and land at the airport, which is actually quite fascinating when you are drunk and stoned," he said in the book while talking about his high school days in Hawaii.

When a Town Hall is not a Town Hall

So I was at home last night minding my own business and waiting for the season premier of NCIS, when my phone rang. It was an electronic voice inviting me to join a telephone town hall meeting being held by Congressman Alan Grayson. Jethro, Tony, Tim, Ziva and Ducky would all have to wait, because this was going to be interesting!

So I pressed the button the join the conversation and immediately pressed the second button to "raise my hand" to indicate I had a question.

While waiting and listening I was shocked at how one sided the whole thing was. "You're doing a great job" was the basic theme with some incredibly soft ball questions being asked by those lucky enough to get through.

After about an hour a woman came on the line and asked me what my question for the Congressman was. What? The questions were being screened? Although I was never a fan of Ric Keller, when he held these, the questions were not screened - at least not when I was invited to take part.

So for those simply listening and unaware that the questions were being screened, you would think that the people just love the Congressman. During the hour and a half that I was listening, there was just one question/comment from someone who had something negative to say. She was a lady in Ocala who has been a nurse for 40 years. She started where I like to - she doesn't believe a word that comes out of DC. She pointed out that she was old enough to be the Congressman's mom and when Grayson answered her, I felt he was rude in the way he simply ignored what she had to say, preferring to laugh at how well she had done in reaching the age she had!

So I have a couple of questions for the Congressman - not the ones I wanted to ask last night. What is the point of holding a town hall if you are not interested in what the people have to say? Are you so lacking in confidence that you need your ego stroked by screening out calls that might be critical of your position? I guess I just don't get it.

Oh and in case you're reading this - I started with but one question. Will you sign Congressman John Fleming's House Resolution which will force any Congressman who votes in favor of the Health Care Bill to actually take it? That just requires a yes or no. While I was waiting, I also had a second thing that came up because I feel you did not give the full story of the Congressional Budget Office and the cost of health care. I feel no need to re-hash that here, but suffice to say that the Director has repeatedly warned that there is going to be a bill that the American people are going to have to pay. That's not budget neutral as you said.

They shall not pass

Corruption seems to be everywhere in this country now - and very little is being said. The press should have an adversarial relationship with whichever Administration seems to be in power, but right now that simply doesn't exist. The MSM is so totally invested in the current Administration that they are unable to ask any relevant questions. Maybe they will ask where the Government component of healthcare went, but who knows.

We have the Chairman of the Senate Banking committee under investigation over a sweetheart deal on his own mortgage and yet as far as I can tell, there has been no subpoena for his mortgage papers from those supposed to be investigating him. Why doesn't Chris Dodds who tells anyone who cares to listen that he has done nothing wrong, simply produce them himself?

We have Charlie Rangle - the guy who writes the tax code - "forgetting" about $2.4m in income. Ooops! My bad! And just how does someone who has been a public servant for so long make so much money that they forget about $2.4M? Well to be fair, that happens to me all the time.

We have a Treasury Secretary - the guy in charge!! - who actually couldn't get a regular job working at the Treasury because of his little Turbo Tax problem. We even have a President who couldn't get a job protecting the President because of his past associations. What about his current ones?

We can talk about Acorn; we can talk about the SEIU; we can talk about a teachers union giving Acorn $1.3m - why exactly? We can talk about Governor Mark Sanford and many others.

What we MUST talk about is not letting a Bill pass - any Bill - until they fix their own house. Write your Senators and Representatives. Call them! Call the White House. Do not get fatigued because with each passing day some new issue comes to light that demands your attention. Let them know that we know. Shine that light!

And as I say at the end of each of my broadcasts on 540 WFLA - STAND UP AMERICA!

Where are the journalists?

Last time I was sitting in for Bud Hedinger, I had a guest on the show who I thought was extremely important. He is Professor Mike Foley from the journalism department at the University of Florida. Really the only thing I wanted to know was where are our journalists?

I was concerned about what schools like UF were teaching our future journalists because right now they are missing in action. You see the problem is not the answers to the important questions, the problem is that the questions are NOT being asked in the first place.

Not only are they not asking the questions, but then you get someone who I truly believe is a decent man - Charlie Gibson - telling the world he had not heard of the Acorn story. Does that mean he just turns up and reads the news or does that mean he is just not interested in what is going on in our country?

We are ALL Americans and what is taking place has an effect on us all. How can ANY AMERICAN be OK with an organisation getting a potential $8 BILLION of tax payer money on the one hand, while trying to help people find a home to use for a brothel to be used by 13 year old illegal immigrant hookers? Anyone???

And how can ANY AMERICAN be OK when eight members of that organisation who do not share a single political view with me say to Acorn's leadership "wait a minute - we want to see the books" only to be cast out? Anyone want to argue that one?

And how can ANY AMERICAN be happy with a vetting process that allows self-avowed communists; ex-cons; people who believe in FORCED ABORTION and sterilisation; people who think freedom of speech and of the press (those of you born after 1970 will have to look in the history books to find out what a free press looks like) is not all that important - HOW can these people (and there are MANY MANY more) be allowed to get close to the President of the United States? Again - anyone?

We are headed to a very dark place as a nation. The ONLY way to combat it is with the truth. Shine a light and expose the truth. THAT is the most powerful weapon anyone needs. And if there is a truth that you feel needs exposing, then please let me know. E-mail me at simontalkshow@gmail.com

And finally to those of you NOT wishing to ask the questions or discuss the issues - If you ultimately win, unfortunately there will be no one left to defend you when they come knocking. And they will.

Welcome

Welcome! I am an occasional talk show host on 540 WFLA in Central Florida. What you will find here will be similar to what you will hear when I'm on the air. You will find my take on issues of local, State, national and international importance. And I will welcome your comments. But just as on the radio - don't expect to get a free ride. If you say something I don't agree with, then we will have a debate.

In addition to that, I will always be looking to break news - particularly corruption. Do you know something I should be investigating? Then e-mail me at simontalkshow@gmail.com

I will hold their feet to the fire because the most important thing right now at this significant time in our country's history, is to shine a light on the truth.

I hope you enjoy and i look forward to your feedback.
